چکیده
Abstract. We evaluate vertical profile retrievals of CO2 from 0.02 cm?1 resolution ground-based near-infrared solar absorption spectra with the GFIT2 algorithm, using improved spectroscopic line lists and shapes. With these improvements, profiles were obtained sequential in five spectral windows different sensitivities synthetic real spectra. A sensitivity study shows that leading source uncertainty retrieved is error a priori temperature profile, even 3-hourly reanalysis profiles. 2 ?C lower troposphere between 0.6 0.85 atm causes deviations are larger than typical variations CO2. Atmospheric CO2 retrieved from ground-based near IR solar spectra
[1] The column-averaged volume mixing ratio (VMR) of CO2 over Kitt Peak, Arizona, has been retrieved from high-resolution solar absorption spectra obtained with the Fourier transform spectrometer on the McMath telescope. Simultaneous column measurements of CO2 at 6300 cm 1 and O2 at 7900 cm 1 were ratioed to minimize systematic errors. These column ratios were then scaled by the mean O2 VMR (0....

متن کاملAtmospheric hydroxyl radical (OH) abundances from ground-based ultraviolet solar spectra: an improved retrieval method.
The Fourier Transform Ultraviolet Spectrometer (FTUVS) instrument has recorded a long-term data record of the atmospheric column abundance of the hydroxyl radical (OH) using the technique of high resolution solar absorption spectroscopy. We report new efforts in improving the precision of the OH measurements in order to better model the diurnal, seasonal, and interannual variability of odd hydr...
متن کاملNear-Infrared Spectra of Ultraluminous Infrared Galaxies.
Near-infrared spectra with a resolution of lambda&solm0;Deltalambda approximately 1100 in the rest-wavelength range of 1.8-2.2 µm have been obtained for a complete sample of 33 ultraluminous infrared galaxies (ULIRGs). Of the 33 objects observed, two show evidence of a central active galactic nucleus (AGN) through either a broad Paschen-alpha line or emission in the 1.963 µm fine structure of [...
متن کاملRetrieval and characterization of ozone vertical profiles from a thermal infrared nadir sounder
[1] This paper presents the first retrievals and validations of ozone vertical distributions from a set of high-resolution nadir thermal infrared measurements. These were obtained by the Interferometric Monitor for Greenhouse gases (IMG) instrument, which has operated on board the Japanese ADEOS platform between 1996 and 1997. The Optimal Estimation Method is used for the retrievals, along with...
